Do You Qualify
It’s true that as part of the changes to the bankruptcy code in 2005, they made qualifying for a chapter 7 bankruptcy harder. However, most of the people who call my office have no problems qualifying for a chapter 7. Of course, I encourage you to call my office and I will personally help you determine right over the phone, if you qualify for a chapter 7 bankruptcy in Florida.
How to Determine If You Qualify
When you call my office to find out if you qualify, I will need certain important pieces of information. First of all, I will need to know if you are married and if you have kids. Then I will need to know whether you and/or your wife are working and how much money you have made gross (before taxes) in the last 6 months. Once I have this number, I may be able to tell you right then and there whether you qualify or not. If it looks close or you do not qualify right then and there – then you still may qualify I will just need more information from you. I will need to see your paystubs for the last 6 months and I will need to know some of your expenses. With that information, I will be able to tell you whether or not you qualify for a chapter 7 bankruptcy. For most people who call, I can tell them in a matter of 2-3 minutes whether they qualify based on their income for a chapter 7 bankruptcy.
